Dear doctoral students and supervisors of the 2021 class:

According to the "Regulations on Doctoral Degree Education at Southwest Jiaotong University" (SWJTU [2021] No. 48) and the "Management Measures for Graduate Dissertation Process in the School of Physics Science and Technology," doctoral candidates should generally complete the dissertation proposal before the end of the fourth semester.

For the 2021 class, the first dissertation proposal must be completed before the end of this semester. Doctoral students participating in the proposal should have completed the required course credits and literature review credits set by the training unit. If the first proposal fails to pass, the student will need to apply for another proposal in the next semester. If both proposals fail, the proposal expert group may recommend dismissal. Please refer to the attached documents for specific requirements. Those who pass the proposal will receive 2 credits and are qualified to carry out dissertation work.

The dissertation proposal defense of the 2021 class will be organized by the teaching and research office. The proposal defense committee should be composed of at least five experts from related disciplines who have the qualifications to guide doctoral students and at least hold the title of associate professor.

Graduate students planning to propose in this semester should submit the "Doctoral Student Topic Report" to the class leader for review and signature (Xipu Campus 30332) by March 15th. Before the proposal, they should upload the "Doctoral Student Topic Report" with the signed agreement of the supervisor in the "Dissertation Proposal Management" module of the Graduate Student Management Information System. They should also take a photo of the first page to the third page to make a PDF electronic document, and upload it as an attachment to the proposal application module. Before July 7, 2023, please submit the signed "Doctoral Student Topic Report" and the "Doctoral Student Topic Report Meeting Record Form" paper copy to Mr. Wang, the Graduate Education and Teaching Center of the School of Physics Science and Technology (Xipu Campus 30332).

After the proposal, each teaching and research office is requested to submit the statistical table of the proposal situation (electronic form) to Mr. Wang before July 7, 2023.
